Hi, I’m Birte, founder of Better German.​
I’m a qualified teacher and German communication coach with over 20 years of experience supporting English speakers expressing themselves in German.
Originally from Germany and having lived in the UK since 2003, I see every day how capable professionals can sound less confident, less articulate or less authoritative in German than they actually are, especially in real workplace situations where communication is fast, spontaneous and high-stakes.
What I’ve learned over the years is that the actual German skills themselves are rarely the real challenge - they can be learnt.
The much bigger hurdle is the gap between what professionals want to say and what actually comes out under pressure in German.
This is why I create a safe space for you to practise expressing yourself in German.
