Some people might see loads of apples ššš in this image.... I see (or rather: hear) podcasts! š
How?
These last few weeks my garden has given me a glut of apples, far more than we can eat at once! So I have given a whole load away to neighbours, friends etc, but still had lots left! So Iāve spent hours peeling, chopping and freezing them and have also made a huge batch of "Apfelmus" (German-style apple sauce).
And while my hands were busy, I needed something to occupy my brain.
My choice: the podcast āZEIT WISSEN. Woher weiĆt du das?ā, a fantastic mix of knowledge, curiosity and everyday science.
I think repetitive tasks like peeling apples are PERFECT moments to fit in German listening. Your hands are busy, but your ears and brain are free to soak up the rhythm, vocabulary and flow of the language. People even report that they can concentrate BETTER if their hands are busy! They seem to get distracted less and can therefore really tune into the podcast they are listening to.
And before you know it, all 200kg (or whatever) of apples are processed š
So the moral of the story is:
You can find German learning EVERYWHERE.
You just need to know WHERE and HOW to look.
Some people just see apples and miss the learning opportunity.
You won't anymore.
You now see apples and think "I can learn German with these!".
Let's go!!!
